What the site actually says about you

Written from the one sentence you type, and yours to change afterwards in plain English.

For the call that cannot wait

Found on a phone, decided in seconds.

The jobs you turn out for
Burst pipes, a leak somebody has just found, no hot water, a drain that will not clear, a toilet that will not flush. Written the way people ask for them, not the way they read on an invoice.
Whether you go out at night and at weekends
In the hours you actually keep. It is the line that decides whether a ten o'clock caller rings you or the next name down.
Your number, at the top of every page
Next to a form that emails you every enquiry. Nothing sitting in a portal waiting for you to check it.
The towns you cover
Named, so somebody two towns over knows before they ring rather than after.

For the work that gets booked in

Looked up properly, days before anyone rings.

The bigger jobs you want more of
A new bathroom, a kitchen going in, a replacement for whatever heats the water, a whole house done again. The work that gets booked weeks ahead instead of in a panic.
How somebody gets a price out of you
Whether a job needs looking at first or can be priced from a description and a photo. Said before anyone has to ask.
Photographs that suit the work
Chosen for the trade so the page is not empty on day one, and swapped for your own the moment you have them.

Your own domain registered and set up, the hosting, the security certificate and the updates: part of the price, with nothing for you to renew or configure.

Nine at night, and a pipe has gone

This is the whole reason to have an address on the internet, and it has very little to do with marketing.

  1. It goes wrong at the worst hour

The water is off at the main, the floor is wet, and nobody is waiting until Monday morning to get it fixed.

  2. They search, and they do not scroll

Whoever is on the screen is who gets rung. A business with nothing behind its name is not on the screen to be passed over.

  3. They open two or three, and judge them in seconds

A number, the towns, the work spelled out, the hours. That is the whole test, and it is passed or failed before a word of anybody's pitch gets read.

  4. The first one that looks real gets the call

Not the best plumber in the town. The one who could be found, and who looked like a company when they got there.

None of that needs a marketing plan. It needs an address that already exists on the night the pipe goes.

Nobody lets a stranger into the house on a hunch

The work happens inside somebody’s home, usually at short notice. Before the door opens, whoever is behind it has looked you up.

A name that leads somewhere
Somebody is handed your name and looks it up before they use it. What comes back is either you, or nothing.
More than a number on a card
A number on its own is a stranger. A page with the business name, the towns, the work and the hours on it is a company.

What else you are being offered, and what it costs

Three of them ring a plumber most weeks. None of them is quite selling the same thing.

A web designer
Thousands, quoted up front

Weeks of back and forth while you write the words for them, and the domain often ends up in their account rather than in yours.

A leads site
A fee on every enquiry, for as long as you use it

The same job goes out to two other plumbers at the same time, and the page it came from belongs to them.

A directory listing
A subscription, every month

A slot on somebody else's page, in a row with everyone you are bidding against, in whatever order they decide.

Plumbnode
$20 a month, cancel any time

Live today, on a domain that is yours. Every enquiry emails straight to you and to nobody else.

And the address stays yours

The domain leaves when you ask
It moves to whatever registrar you name. No notice period, and no fee for the privilege.
You change it yourself
Words, photographs, prices, pages, in plain English. A real editor on a real site, not a locked preview.
There is no contract
Cancelling takes about as many clicks as starting did, from the dashboard.

Questions

What does it cost?

$20 a month, once the site is live. That covers the site, the hosting, the security certificate and your domain name. There is no setup fee, no add-ons, no contract, and nothing charged per enquiry.

Is it really free until it is live?

Yes. You build it and read every page of it without paying anything. The payment is for putting it on the internet on your own domain.

Nearly all my work comes from recommendations. Why bother?

Recommendations bring you the work that gets booked in. The burst pipe on a Sunday goes to whoever the phone finds first, and that is the work that fills the gaps between the booked jobs. A recommendation also gets looked up before it gets acted on, and what comes back decides whether they ring you or the name under you.

I already pay for leads. Is this not the same thing?

It is the other way round. A leads site charges you for an enquiry that went to two other plumbers as well, on a page that belongs to them. This is your own address and your own enquiries, at one price whether you win two jobs this month or twenty.

Can it say that I go out at night?

Yes, and it should. Put your hours in and they go on the page, including the ones nobody else in your area covers. It is the line that wins the ten o'clock call on its own. The same goes for anything else you want stated, your registration and your insurance included: it prints what you put in the box, in your words, and verifies or awards none of it.

I fit bathrooms, I do not do emergencies. Does this still work?

Yes. It writes what you tell it. Say what you take on and what you do not, and the calls that were never going to suit you go somewhere else, which saves you the conversation.

Do I need to be any good with computers?

If you can send a text message you can do this. Changes afterwards are typed in plain English rather than made in a design tool, and there is nothing to save in the right format.

Do I need a domain already?

No. The domain name is part of the price: registered and set up for the site. If you already own one, connect that instead and it gets used.

What happens to my domain if I leave?

It is yours. Ask for it and it moves to whatever registrar you name, with no notice period and nothing to argue about.

Put in one sentence and see what comes back

Nothing to pay until it is live, and no card to give before then.
